Qualifications/Work Experience: Shashi has a BA from a local college in Pune and joined Shelter Associates in 2000.
My dream as a child was…to become a businessman
What I love most about Shelter Associates is… the opportunity to learn new skills such as poverty mapping, computer training and GIS software along with working with administrative officers and local government members on projects

My most challenging moment at Shelter was…the KamgarPutla Slum Rehabilitation project in 2003. I had no prior experience in building, and supervised the entire project. I learned how to keep record of cement, sand, and bricks, along with how to gain permission for needs such as water and electricity. While this was challenging, it was an excellent learning opportunity.
My most rewarding moment in community service work has been… the overall satisfaction of providing housing and individual toilets to families in need. Also, being entrusted with the KamgarPutla project and successfully completing it was very rewarding.
My best friend is…Sambhaji Mandke (a social worker with Shelter Associates in Sangli)
