Zahida Pathan

Qualifications/Work Experience: Zahida completed the tenth standard in school and joined Shelter Associates in 1998.
My dream as a child was…not sure what I wanted to become!
What I love most about Shelter Associates is… The very friendly atmosphere in the office and the opportunity to learn new skills such as computer use and map reading.

My most challenging moment at Shelter was…the sanitation work completed in Pune. I was responsible for my own team and in a supervising position for the first time. This was a challenging learning experience, but thirteen community toilet blocks were ultimately constructed successfully.
My most rewarding moment in community service work has been… the opportunity to use my skills in teaching crochet work to women and young girls in informal group settings in Sangli. This form of social mobilization gives me the opportunity to share my skills while speaking to the women and learning about them and their needs.
My best friend is…Sunita Joshi (a past Shelter Associates member in Pune, who plans to rejoin the team as her twins grow up!)
